Man shouted at and hit woman in alleged Weymouth robbery

It's alleged a man approached a woman on King Street and shouted abuse at her before hitting her face.

The victim, a local woman in her 30's, was chased towards Park Street where the man then took her purse from her handbag. The purse contained some cash and a bank card.

The incident reportedly happened on Sunday (6th October) at around 12:40pm.

The victim ran towards Park Street.

The man and woman are thought to know each other.

A 42 year old Weymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Following the incident in Weymouth, Dorset Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen what happened, or with other information to come forward.

Detective Constable Jeremy Cuff, of Weymouth CID, said:

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident, or captured it on CCTV or dashcam footage, to get in touch."
