Chris Packham comes to Bridport for mental health festival

This weekend, the Sunflower Project's raising money and awareness for mental health and wellbeing.


Previously called Bridport Mind Fest, the event's in it's third year of raising awareness and money to continue it's work.

The group work in schools and in the community to get people professional help where needed, support those who don't necessarily need professional help but could use some support.

BBC Springwatch presenter, Chris Packham, will be giving a talk about his his 'Pictures from the Edge of the World'. 

Max Mackay-James is one of the group's committee members. He said:

"95% of the care we receive is informal care from friends and family."

They want to train informal befrienders for those who don't receive support from those area.

"The whole drive is to make that connection between everybody in Bridport and people who are struggling with their mental health."

What's happening?

Saturday 12th October: 

  • Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workshop - Bridport Town Hall  - 3pm - 4:15pm
  • Creative Decor Workshop - Bridport youth Centre - 3pm -6pm
  • Youth Empowerment Day - Bridport Youth Centre - 8pm - Late

Sunday 13th October:

  • Chris Packham will be speaking about his 'Edge of the World' series at Bridport's Electric Palace - 3pm - 5pm
