Marshall injured during incident at Weymouth Beach Motocross

There was a serious incident at Weymouth Beach Motocross yesterday afternoon.

A marshall was involved in a collision with one of the bikes.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said:

"We were called at 12.45pm to attend an incident on Weymouth beach.

"We sent an air ambulance crew and a paramedic to attend the incident.

"A male patient was treated at the scene and flown by air ambulance to hospital."


Weymouth Beach Motocross said on their Facebook Page:

"We hope and pray for a full recovery to the injured steward.

"Our thoughts are with him and his family."

The event is the largest of its kind on the south coast.

Now in its 40th year it's hosted by Weymouth & Portland Lions Club in association with Purbeck Motocross Club .

More than 300 bikers were expected to take part drawing crowds of around 20,000 spectators.
