A Flood Alert has been issued by the the Environment Agency for the Lower Frome.

They're warning flooding is possible for tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham.

River levels have risen at the Stinsford river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall over the last couple of days.

Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected today and for the next few days.

There is also a possibility of flooding for the River Frome and the tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham, but the Environment Agency are NOT forecasting flooding of properties at this point.

The weather remains unsettled, further rainfall is forecast and we expect river levels to remain high all week.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking defences.

"Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued.
