'Potentially life changing injuries' for woman hit by waste lorry

A cyclist has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after colliding with a street cleaning vehicle this morning.

The incident happened on Corfe Road in Stoborough, near Wareham, at around 8.45am this morning.

The cyclist, a local woman in her 70s, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital. Her family has been informed and are being supported by officers.

The driver of the street-cleaning vehicle was uninjured.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

"Officers attended along with the ambulance service and road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident.

"The female cyclist has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital. Her injuries are believed to be potentially life changing."

Road closures have been put in place to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
