Flood Alerts issued across Dorset

A Flood Alert has been issued for Dorset by the Environment Agency

River levels are forecast to rise as a result of persistent overnight rainfall. 

A yellow warning for heavy rain is in place between 7pm tonight and 7am tomorrow morning.

There is a risk of flooding of low-lying roads and farmland.

Affected rivers and their tributaries include:

  • Upper Frome - flooding is possible between Toller Whelme and Dorchester
  • Lower Frome  - flooding is possible between Dorchester and Wareham
  • Charmouth River gauge - West Dorset Rivers and streams could be affected

A spokesperson from The Environment Agency said:

"We are closely monitoring the situation and will update as the situation changes.

"People are advised to be prepared."  

The Met Office is also warning us that travel may be affected by the rain.
