Kitchen fire in Cattistock

Published by Faye Tryhorn at 8:25am 17th November 2019.

Four engines were called out to the blaze yesterday evening (Saturday 16th November).

A number of calls were put in to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue at around 9.50pm.

Flames were seen coming from the kitchen window, caused by what's called a 'flashover'.

That's when the smoke from a blaze starts to burn, setting everything within a room alight.

Luckily, those inside the house got out unharmed.

Crews tackled the fire for around two and a half hours, before bringing it under control.

They've stayed on the scene to dampen down too.
