'Light up a Life' with Weldmar to remember loved ones this Christmas

Published by The Wessex FM News Team at 8:00am 21st November 2019.

Weldmar Hospicecare's 'Light up a Life' services are a unique way to remember someone special at Christmas.

Christmas trees are lit up at each service - and a light on a tree can be dedicated to someone special who will be missed during the festive period.

There will also be readings and carol singing, supported by local musicians and singers at each venue.

'Services are running across Dorset next week'

  • Wareham: Holme for Gardens, Sunday 1st December 4pm
  • Dorchester: Weldmar's Inpatient Unit, Herringston Road, Tuesday 3rd December, 6.30pm
  • Bridport: Groves Nurseries & Garden Centre, Thursday 5th December, 6pm
  • Weymouth: Hope Square, Brewer's Quay, Sunday 8th December, 5pm
  • Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens: Tuesday 10th December, 4pm

The services will be led by Weldmar's Spiritual Lead Lucyann Ashdown.

'New for this year'

In addition to dedicating a light to someone special, this year there will also be eco-friendly wooden stars that can be purchased at each service for £2, and a message can be handwritten on them before being hung on the Christmas trees, or taken home.

To dedicate a light on one of the Christmas trees at a Light up a Life service to a loved one, visit the Weldmar Hospicecare website or call 01305 261800.

Groves Nurseries Bridport with Weldmar's Light up a Life service

It's also the first time the Light up a Life service will be held in Bridport.

Owner of Groves' Garden Centre Charlie Groves said:

"We are very honoured to hosting Bridport's first Light up A Life.

"Weldmar help so many people through difficult times and this is such a lovely way to remember loved ones who can't be with us at Christmas, when feelings of loss can be at their strongest."

Refreshments will be at the Weymouth service at Brewers Quay.

Light up a Life is being supported for the fourth consecutive year by Dream Cottages.
