Eco-warriors at Damers First School in Dorchester have won a national award for their campaigning.

Children at Damers have racked up something of a reputation for their campaigning, but they've now been recognised on a national level.

They went head to head with two other schools in Surfers Against Sewage 'School's Champion' award.

Their 'Plastic Free' awards evening took place at Bristol Museum.

Leader of Damers Eco-club, Edd Moore went to collect the prize. He said:

"I am so proud of all the children at Damers First School. Their hard work, determination, passion, knowledge, their love for the environment and drive has got the school to this amazing national award.

"To have led a school, community and county led alone taken it nationwide is Phenomenal. So many groups in Dorchester are forming off the back of the inspirational work the children have done which makes me feel very proud and humble.

"If you give children the platform and the confidence to speak this is what they can do."
