Local employers helping prepare Dorset youngsters for world of work

Dorset employers are helping to prepare young people in the county for the world of work.

They are joining forces with the Dorset Careers Hub, which was launched earlier this month to work with 40 local schools and colleges in the area.

Now a group known as Cornerstone Employers, which leads the Hub, is encouraging new organisations to get involved in offer support, as well as urging staff to volunteer as 'Enterprise Advisers'.

Dorset Council is one of the organisations that have got involved.

The aim is to invest time and resources to open doors to workplaces and create inspiring opportunities for young people that will help them make informed career choices.

Matt Prosser, Chief Executive, Dorset Council, said: 

"We are delighted to be a Cornerstone Employer and to show our commitment to help young people in Dorset prepare and be inspired for the fast-changing world of work."

Dorset Careers Hub comes as part of a second wave of Careers Hubs across the country, backed by a £2.5 million CEC investment to encourage best career education practice locally.
