He told Wessex FM:

"We're six months out from a police and crime commissioner election.

"I'm gathering some data independently which I'll give to all candidates and let them know what the public have told me would be important to them, to help them build their own thinking about manifestos and police and crime plans.

"There are two parts of it. I asked the public to put themselves in my shoes for a minute."

More than 1,000 people took part in the first phase of the campaign.

Phase two has now started. This looks at topics like 999 and 101 demand or searching for a vulnerable missing person.

Chief Constable James Vaughan said:

"We hope a similar level of people will get involved this time. So it gives us a relatively strong sample size.

"We're also going to look at bespoke work for children and young people to make sure their voice is heard as well."
