Extinction Rebellion to stage 'live' weather forecast

Published by Maria Greenwood at 7:39am 5th December 2019.

Extinction Rebellion will today be predicting the weather for Weymouth and Dorchester.

They'll be in Weymotuh this morning and Dorchester town centre this afternoon to give  a live performance of the local weather in the future if we don't tackle climate change.

The say the climate crisis will cause 'floods, rising sea levels and coastal erosion.'

It's all part of their 12 days of crisis campaign this Christmas.

Emma Smart from Extinction Rebellion Dorchester and Weymouth said:

"We are in a climate emergency, 450 homes in Weymouth are at risk from coastal flooding right now, with thousands more vulnerable in the near future.

"Lowering the beach or strengthening the harbour wall is like putting a sticking plaster on a dam about to burst.

"We need action now."
