Record Portland Port season brings €5 million to Dorset

More ships dropped anchor at Portland Port than EVER before.

Portland Port's had a record breaking year and there's even more booked in 2020.

This year there were 41 cruise calls, 11 inaugural visits and even a maiden voyage calling at the port.

Next year, there's 42 calls booked in with another 9 inaugural calls. The Port estimates they could bring €6 million worth of benefits to the area in 2020, based on current forrcasts. 

The number of calls at the port has almost tripled in the past 4 years, with only 15 calling in 2016.

The season's brought over 60,000 tourists to Dorset and the Port says it hopes to keep growing.

Some of the highlights

Lots of well known ships were spotted this year, including Disney Cruises and the first trip from Saga's Spirit of Discovery.
