Van overturns on A37

A man's been taken to hospital.

3 fire crews from Yeovil attended the incident which happened around 3:50pm this afternoon.

Avon and Somerset Police were called after the vehicle left the road and collided with trees.

The southbound section of road has been closed near Yeovil, delaying people travelling towards Dorchester.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said:

"We were called about reports of a van which had overturned on the A37 at Whistle Bridge, Stoford near its junction with Hoopers Lane at about 3.50pm.

"The male driver suffered head injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance.  He has been taken by ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

"There is already traffic congestion in the area and motorists are urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes."
