Passers-by went to the aid of a man who'd been knocked off his bike after an accident with a car in Bridport.

The accident happened at around 5.30pm on Wednesday evening.  (29 January)

The 56-year-old who was treated for cuts and bruises was found lying in the road by a busy roundabout.

Officers from West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team came across the incident on their way to an evening with the 1st West Bay Sea Scouts.

A spokesman said:

"Working together, the two Officers carried out a casualty assessment whilst members of the public assisted, and also helped manage the busy traffic until the Police arrived.

"Luckily, apart from scrapes and bruises, the casualty was found to have no obvious or significant injuries, and felt well enough to be helped up, and out of the main road."
