Have you booked in for your free NHS Health Check?

You could be one of over 3,000 Dorset residents entitled to a free check up on the NHS.

It is a free check-up of your overall health and can tell people whether they are at higher risk of getting certain health problems.

These can include:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney disease
  • Stroke

If you between the ages of 40-74, haven't had an NHS health check in the last five years and don't have an existing condition, you are eligible for a check.

Councillor Laura Miller, Dorset Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health said:

"I would encourage anyone who is eligible to find their nearest provider and book their NHS Health Check."

"Health checks are free and you can learn how small lifestyle changes can make big differences in helping you prevent developing serious health conditions."

The health check takes no longer than 30 minutes. You will be asked questions about your health and the health of your family.

During the appointment you will have you height and weight measured along with your blood pressure read and a free cholesterol check.

You can find your nearest provider by visiting their website.
