Weldmar Hospicecare is launching the first ever contactless donation point in Dorset.

People passing the device on the street can make an immediate donation with their contactless card.

It's part of a trial, Weldmar has launched a trial run of the device, in their Trinity Street shop in Dorchester.

If it's successful the devices will appear in more of their 26 shops and outlets across the county.

Donating is simple, tap your debit or credit card or smart device on the window in front of the donation station, which will automatically donate £3 to the charity.

Weldmar have also installed a point at their Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.

Matt Smith, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Weldmar Hospicecare, says:

"Year on year we are becoming a cashless society, paying for our shopping with our contactless cards and smart devices.

"We have seen the effect this has had on charitable income over the last few years.

"Installing contactless donation devices in our shop windows provides a quick and easy way to support Weldmar hospice care.

"The money raised will enable us to continue to support them through one of life's most difficult journeys."
