Flood warnings issued for parts of rural Dorset

The Environment Agency have issued a flood warning for rural Dorset this morning.

The groundwater levels in the Dickley Down borehole are currently high and rising, due to the persistent heavy rainfall from Storm Dennis.

Groundwater flooding is being predicted for Minterne Magna, Minton Parva, Cerne Abbas, Nether Cerne, Godmanston, Forston and Charminster.

Another warning has been issued for Up Sydling and Sydling St Nicholas.    


Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed.

Residents may experience problems flushing toilets and have issues with septic tanks.




Flood Warning in force: Upper Frome from Maiden Newton to Dorchester.

Flooding is expected for: Areas in Higher Frome Vauchurch, Frome Vauchurch, Cruxton, Notton, Frampton, Grimstone, Muckleford, Stratton, Bradford Peverell, Wrackleford, Charminster, Frome Whitfield, Wolfeton, Lower Burton and Cokers Frome.
