Man dies following a crash in Dorset

An 88-year-old man's died following a crash in Dorset.

A man who sustained serious injuries during a collision near Sherborne has very sadly died.

Dorset Police were called on Tuesday 21st January at 3.53pm to the report of a two vehicle collision.

It involved a grey Skoda Roomster and a silver Toyota HiAce panel van on the A30 at Babylon Hill near to Marl Lane turn off to Over Compton. 

The driver of the Skoda was a local 88-year-old man. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a severe condition and died on Tuesday 18th February.

His 86-year-old wife, who was travelling in the front of the car also sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment. 

She died on the afternoon of Wednesday 22 January 2020. 

Their family is being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

The driver of the Toyota van was a man aged in his 50s, from Yeovil and he had minor injuries.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said:

"Our thoughts are with both the man and woman's family at this very difficult time. 

"I would like to renew my appeal for witnesses, or anyone with general dashcam footage of the A30 between 3.30pm and 4pm on Tuesday 21 January, to please come forward."
