A planning application has been submitted to convert a shop in the Tudor Arcade.

A Tudor Arcade shop in Dorchester could be converted into a coffee shop and café, creating six jobs.

A change of use from retail to cafe is being requested for units 12 and 13, close to the town’s Waitrose store.

The business proposes to employ two full-time staff and four part-time and says it will open 7am until 7pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The application to Dorset Council says that changes to the building will include adding cooking and extraction units and a disabled toilet and removing a wall which divides the two units, both of which are unoccupied.

The units were last used by the Animal clothing chain and Intersports.
