An 18-year-old man has been arrested by police in Dorchester in connection with the supply of Class B drugs.

Officers were carrying out targeted partols in an area which they say is currently used for drugs misuse, when they approached a group of young people on Sunday.

A small group of 3 ran off towards Sandringham playing fields.

Police detained and arrested an 18-year-old male for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

He has now been charged with possession of Class B drugs.

A spokesperson for Dorchester police said:

"We know that these young people are openly using drugs in this area, making it uncomfortable for members of the public, who like to walk along that path.

"We are working with the council to tackle the issue long term.

"In the short term please keep reporting the issues to us."
