Dorchester's CO-OP is likely to get a new look with a planned redecoration of the shop front, new windows and doors, new sign board and new external lighting.

Planning permission for the changes at the Trinity Street store have been submitted to Dorset Council for approval.

It also includes the replacement of the existing refrigeration plant which the company claims will be quieter and more energy efficient.

The store is currently the subject of another planning application, from a fitness company, to use half of the building for a 24-hour gym.

That application has yet to be decided.
