Flood warning issued for Weymouth

The Environment Agency have issued a flood warning for the River Wey from Upwey to Weymouth.

Flooding is expected for: River Wey from Upwey to Weymouth including Church Street, Little Mead, Nottington Lane, Nottington Farm and Almas Palace.    

They say immediate action is required.

A spokesman said:

"River levels have risen rapidly as a result of persistent heavy rainfall.  

"Consequently, flooding of property is imminent.  

"We expect flooding to affect River Wey from Upwey to Weymouth including Church Street, Little Mead, Nottington Lane, Nottington Farm and Almas Palace.

"Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours.  River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall.

"We are closely monitoring the situation."

Please avoid using bridges over local watercourses and can owners with property flood resilience equipment install it now.
