Heavy rain causes flooding in Dorset:  Live Updates

With heavy rain causing flooding around the county, we have all the latest information here for you.

The Environment Agency have issued a flood warning for the River Wey from Upwey to Weymouth, with flooding expected for including Church Street, Little Mead, Nottington Lane, Nottington Farm and Almas Palace.

Bridport Fire Station have been dealing with a car stuck in flood water at Whitchurch Canonicorum.

They're warning us not to risk driving through flood water.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue also tweeted earlier reminding us that they won't always come to stranded vehicles.


A35 Bakers Arms Roundabout partially closed westbound due to flooding. 


Police warning to people travelling through Corfe. The river has already flooded today and there are chances it could flood again.

Radipole Village CLOSED.

Radipole school are asking parents to allow extra time for their journey to collect their children today.


Dorset Police are closing various roads around Weymouth.


Flooding water is almost flowing over the bridge in Nottington Lane (Nottington).

Nottington Lane Westbound  closed due to flood prevention from B3159 Dorchester Road (Nottington) to B3157 Bramdon Lane (Langton Herring).


Watery Lane closed both ways due to flood prevention from B3159 Church Street to Mill Street.


Houses flooded on both sides of Radipole Lane. Reports Radipole Village is completely flooded. 


A352 closed both ways due to flooding. Heavy traffic from Gatemore Road (Winfrith Newburgh) to Burton Road (Burton Cross Roundabout, Wool).


High Street, Abbotsbury 'just about passable' due to flooding from Cleverlawns (Abbotsbury) to Mill Street (Burton Bradstock)


Reports of flooding near the Stinsford Roundabout, up to number plates on cars.


Winterbourne Abbas: Reports of traffic being very slow due to flooding on A35 at B3159.



Flood Alert in force: Upper Frome and tributaries.

Flooding is possible for: Tributaries between Toller Whelme and Dorchester.

The Environment Agency say flooding of roads and farmland is possible between 10:30 and 20:30 today, 05/03/20.  

A spokesman said:

"We are closely monitoring the situation.  

"Our incident response staff are clearing weed screens and in contact with community flood wardens and volunteers.  

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded."


Reports of flooding and a broken down car on the Coast road through Abbotsbury. 


Southill on the Weymouth Wey the flood water is coming down the hill and across the road towards the river.


There are problems on the A35 at Winterborne Abbas.



Drivers are urged to be careful between Chickerell and Preston, with reports of food water on the road. 


Reports of flooding on the A353 between Osmington and Preston.


A caller has told Wessex FM that Watery Lane in Upwey is now flooded. 


Reports of flooding on the A352 outside Wool. 


A Flood Alert is now in force: West Dorset Rivers and Streams.

Flooding is possible for: Rivers Lim, Char, Winniford, Simene, Brit, Asker, Mangerton and Bride.
