A Dorset Council spokesperson said:

"A team has been to site today and completed a visual inspection.

"It appears that an RTC occurred on the northerly (Mosterton) approach to the tunnel and has resulted in some minor damage to the right wingwall.

"At this stage the damage appears to be aesthetic however we will investigate further next week when we plan on starting the repair.

"The site is safe however we are arranging for temporary signals to be erected until a repair can be made."

The tunnel was closed for about a year in 2012 after a landslip which killed two people.
