New flood warnings issued for Dorset

We being urged to prepare ourselves for more possible flooding.

The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Warning for the Lower Frome from Dorchester to East Stoke.

Flooding is expected for:

Areas in Dorchester, West Stafford, Bockhampton, Lewell, Tincleton, Pallington, Waddock, Moreton, Wool and East Stoke.    

They say immediate action is required.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: 

"River levels are rising at the Stinsford river gauge as a result of the ground being saturated and reacting to further heavy rainfall.

"Consequently, flooding could occur overnight and into the morning.

"We believe there is a possibility of flooding for areas in Dorchester, West Stafford, Bockhampton, Lewell, Tincleton, Pallington, Waddock, Moreton, Wool and East Stoke."

River levels can rise very quickly in response to heavy rainfall and river levels are expected to remain high over the next few days.

A Flood Warning has  also been issued for the Upper Frome from Maiden Newton to Dorchester.

Flooding is expected for: Areas in Higher Frome Vauchurch, Frome Vauchurch, Cruxton, Notton, Frampton, Grimstone, Muckleford, Stratton, Bradford Peverell, Wrackleford, Charminster, Frome Whitfield, Wolfeton, Lower Burton and Cokers Frome.
