Firefighters from across the county were called to tackle a chip shop fire in West Bay on Friday.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service were called at 5:35pm on Friday afternoon (6th March) to a two storey building on Forty Foot Way in West Bay.

There were reports of a fire involving a deep fat fryer.

Four pumps initially attended, with large amounts of smoke seen coming from the roof of the building.

The fire had spread from the fryer to the extraction system, which went through the building's interior and up to the roof.

Crews from across the service in Devon and Somerset fire service attended.

Firefighters found there were two separate fires, one at the chip shop and one in the residency's above.

Due to the building layout they had to cut away internal and externals parts of the building to check various areas to stop the fire spreading further and extinguish it.

By 10pm the fire had been extinguished and two pumps were left to attend to any hotpots that remained.
