A tired and exhausted climber has been rescued from cliffs in Dorset.

The man from London was climbing with a friend when he became stuck at Anvil Point on the cliff face six metres from the bottom.

Swanage Coastguard Rescue Team backed up by the St Albans Coastguard team were tasked just after 3.30pm on Saturday.

On arrival the teams set up for a rope rescue to retrieve the climber.

The Swanage RNLI inshore lifeboat was requested to provide safely cover whilst the recovery operation was taking place.

The climber was safely recovered to the top of the cliff and checked for any injuries.
