Schools across the country are to shut down because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Government has announced plans to shut all schools across the UK at the end of the day on Friday. (20th March)

Children of key workers will be able to still attend.

'What is a key worker?'

They include:

  • NHS staff, police and supermarket delivery drivers - They will be needed to continue to go to work as the UK battles coronavirus.
  • Vulnerable children include those who have a social worker and those with Education, Health and Care Plans - a legal document that describes a child's special educational needs and the support they require.
  • Police and delivery drivers.

GCSEs and A-Levels in England and Wales will be cancelled.

The change will be in force until further notice.
