Cliff climbers disturb nesting Peregrine Falcon

Cliff climbers and drone fliers are being reminded that ignoring signs aimed at protecting nesting birds of prey could end up with you being prosecuted.

Wildlife Officers from Weymouth and Portland Police have been investigating reports that a Peregrine Falcon was disturbed by a drone and people climbing local cliffs.

There are signs that show restrictions are in place not climb in specific areas from the 1st March to the 30th June.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

“This is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. 

“We will look to prosecute any persons found ignoring the signage”
