A Grade 2 listed manor house near Maiden Newton's been significantly damaged in a roof fire earlier today.

12 fire engines from across Dorset and Avon and Somerset were there today.

The roof and much of the second floor was 'significantly damaged' but firefighters managed to save the ground and first floors.

We are currently dealing with a roof fire at a Manor House near Maiden Newton, there are eleven fire engines in attendance, including from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, plus several other appliances. Firefighters are working hard to protect as much of the house as possible. Further updates later.

An initial fire investigation has concluded that the fire was started by accidental ignition during renovation works

The manor house was unoccupied at the time.
