Dorset Traffic Cops stopped more than 100 vehicles over the weekend

Police were stationed at key points on the county's border with Devon and Somerset.

Around 200 cars were stopped over the whole weekend - of those two cars were turned around.

One of the vehicles was on a non-commercial fishing trip.

On Friday, police stopped a number of vehicles travelling on the A31.

Some of the reasons given for travelling were:

    • 2 families from London who had come to visit the beach as it was a nice day.
    • A family from London, who had hired a camper van yesterday with the intention to come to Dorset to self isolate.
    • A couple from London (again) who had come to Dorset to go spear fishing.
    • A male from Aylesbury who was visiting a friend to brush up his CV.
    • A few couples from Southampton who had come to walk their dog.
    • A number were escorted from the County.
    • 1 car was seized for no insurance
    • 2 other tickets were issued for identified offences
