The DCH COVID-19 Appeal launched by Dorset County Hospital Charity has smashed the £100,000 barrier in just under three weeks.

The new Appeal was set up to fund staff well-being initiatives and support patient welfare during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The charity say it's made an incredible start thanks to the generosity of the local community as well as a donation from NHS Charities Together.

Head of Charity Simon Pearson said:

"We couldn't possibly have anticipated such a fantastic and rapid response when we set the appeal up at the end of March - the public have been so generous and the community and local businesses have rallied around to do whatever they can to help staff and patients at this really difficult time."

"The money will be used to provide practical items and fund longer term initiatives that staff have requested.

"It will support projects that will make it easier for them to focus on their number one priority which is looking after patients."

'How to donate'

So far the DCH COVID-19 Appeal has been supported by over 1200 people and the fund continues to grow.

Donations can be made on the DCH COVID-19 Just Giving Page.

Financial donations may also be sent to: DCH COVID-19 Appeal, DCH Charity, Williams Avenue, Dorchester DT1 2JY.
