Weymouth woman digs up a bomb in her back garden

A bomb disposal team were called out on Saturday after a woman dug up an unexploded World War Two bomb in her garden in Weymouth.

Lulu Cirillo who lives in Abbotsbury Road didn't know what she had found at first.

She called the police after posting pictures on Facebook when people suggested it could be a bomb.

A bomb disposal team were brought in.

They took the device to Weymouth Beach to carry out a controlled explosion.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said:

"A cordon was put in place as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended to examine the device.

"Officers accompanied the EOD team to Weymouth Beach and a cordon was put in place for the safety of the public as a controlled explosion was carried out shortly before 9pm."
