Another warning has been issued not light fires or have BBQ's in woodland areas.

It comes after police and firefighters put two open fires out at Teddy Bear Woods near Weymouth yesterday.

Two fires had been lit, which were quickly put out.

A spokesman for Weymouth Fire Station said:

"With the impact of Corona Virus still being felt and Wareham Forest Fire still going on, it goes to show one small fire can massive consequences.

"Our resources are really stretched at the moment so please don’t have fires or BBQ's."

An area of woods and heathland the size of 230 football pitches was recently destroyed in the Wareham Forest Fire which was started by social activity.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"Recently we have lost vast areas of woodland within Dorset, so please do not start any fires in wooded areas and refrain from using portable BBQ equipment directly on the ground to avoid unnecessary damage to our countryside."
