The internet's back on for some people in Southwell after an incident involving a grass cutter.

Some people were unable to access the internet for a week.

An Openreach cabinet was damaged by a grass cutter on Tuesday 2nd June which resulted in a loss of internet service for some.

One local said he was unable to speak with his grandchildren for a week because of the outage.

For many, the problem was resolved on Friday 5th June, but some residents still had problems a week after the incident.

They were unable to do online banking, doctors appointments or video call family members. One couple hadn't seen their grandchildren in months.

An Openreach spokesperson said:

"Our engineers attended and made the area safe and have worked hard to fix the damaged cabinet and get customers back online.

"We know how frustrating it is to be without broadband and we'd like to thank the people of Southwell for their patience while we made the repairs.

"We encourage anyone experiencing problems with their phone or broadband service to report them to their service provider who will then inform us".
