They want visitors to plan their trips and check traffic before they set off on a day trip.

The local authority say they've got measures in place across the county to cope with an influx of visitors.

With most pubs, cafes, restaurants, bars and hotels open the council are expecting Dorset to be busy.

Coastal towns and rural towns are going to be hot spots, but the authority is confident they have a robust plan in place.

A spokesperson from the Council said they're working with partners to manage the potential high number of visitors.

"Anyone planning a day out is encouraged to 'Know before you go' and to plan ahead before setting off on a day trip. It's worth checking @TravelDorset Twitter account for any accidents, delays or roadworks.

"It's also worth knowing where you might part when you reach your destination as some places require visitors to book parking advanced.

"We're also reminding visitors to be respectful to our local communities by not using disposable BBQ's, taking litter home and to park considerately."

Everyone should still be maintaining social distancing and keeping up with good hand washing practices whether on the beach, in a pub or shopping.
