A man tried to escape being captured by Police in Weymouth over the weekend by jumping in the Harbour.

At around 4am on Saturday Dorset Police were informed by a member of the public that a man was being assaulted by three other men in the Netherton House area of Rodwell Road.

As the police arrested the alleged attackers, one of them ran away and jumped into the harbour.

He gave himself up a couple of hours later.

The three arrested men have since been bailed as police investigations continue.
