A young girl has had a lucky escape after becoming stuck in mud in Weymouth.

The 14 year old was walking with her parents when she suddenly became lodged in the dangerous mud patch next to Fleet Lagoon by Chickerell Camp.

A Coastguard rescue helicopter that was training nearby was scrambled to rescue her and the teenager was winched to safety.

Officers said she was ok, and reunited with her parents.
