Metal Thieves Use Forklift Truck To Transport Haul

Valuable metal have been stolen by a group of thieves near Wareham.

The incident happened sometime between 11am on Sunday and 4am on Monday on the Holton Heath Trading Estate.

Police Constable Mark Walsh, of Wareham police, said: "Thieves broke in and hotwired two forklift trucks to help them.

"They stole high value metal, and cable on reels which would have each weighed about a tonne."

Police believe that the offenders used a large vehicle to transport the stolen items away.

PC Walsh continued: "We are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen anything suspicious, in particular a lorry moving around this area in the hours of darkness transporting large reels of cable."
