Newstead Road Bridge 1

Published at 12:03am 6th May 2012.

Do you like a good cycle? If you do, then you're invited to get involved with a special event today in Weymouth.

It's all to celebrate the opening of the Newstead Road walking and cycling bridge on the Rodwell Trail.

The new bridge fills a 25 year gap giving residents and visitors much-needed access to the network of walking and cycling routes. The Rodwell Trail is now fully accessible with improved ramp access for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The community event gets underway from 11am and runs until 3pm (Sunday 6th May) at Marsh Fields, next to the Weymouth outdoor education centre.

Various activities will be running including; ling your bike craft sessions and pedal powered fun, a fresh air miles treasure hunt and Dr Bike - where you can get your bike checked over by the experts. Stunt bike displays will also take place at 11:30am and 2pm at the Marsh.
