Business News - Free Advice For Village Retailers In Dorset

Published at 9:08am 14th May 2012.

Village retailers in Dorset are being offered free advice this month on how to take a fresh look at their businesses.

A retail seminar held by the Store is the Core programme will be held at the Crown Hotel in Blandford on the 23rd of May.

The free event offers presentations from experts, group discussions and one to one advice on how to better analyse your business.

Tim Coomer, Programme Manager, said "With around 400 village shops and post offices closing each year it's imperative we have this kind of support in place to help stem that decline".

Store is the Core is managed by Community First (Wiltshire) with funding from the Rural Development Fund for England (RDPE) an EU and DEFRA European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development:Europe investing in rural areas. The programme supports independent and community shopkeepers across the whole region through Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

"We believe that by supporting village shops we can help ensure access to vital services and maintain a vibrant and sustainable future for our rural communities." Mr Coomer added.
