Business News - Masterchef Wins Second AA Rosette

Mat Follas

Published at 10:15am 15th May 2012.

Dorset's Masterchef winner Matt Follas is continuing to impress food critics.

He's just been awarded his second AA rosette for his restaurant in Beaminster, The Wild Garlic.

This follows his inclusion in The Trencherman's Guide 2012 for the best restaurant in the South West, where he's listed as a rising star.

With recommendations in the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide continuing in 2012, Mat's restaurant, is becoming known for delivering exceptional food, rather than just the restaurant of a TV Celebrity.

Mat said "the 2nd AA rosette and Trencherman's listing not only puts us in the top 5 percent of restaurants in the country as judged by the AA, but more so, it's an acknowledgement that despite our relaxed and informal style, we take our food very seriously and are really pleased to be given these awards. We've always been determined to be family friendly and not exclusive. We have highchairs in the restaurant and my slightly cheesy taste in 80's music ... I guess being a kiwi, I wanted a restaurant that I would want to eat in and not feel intimidated walking into.

We have a great team and although we're very busy opening our new beach cafe, Chesil Beach Cafe in Portland, in no way does this detract from the fantastic work we're doing at The Wild Garlic."
