Lifeboat Week in Weymouth

Published at 8:42am 22nd May 2012.

Dramatic cliff rescues, lifeboat displays and the chance to get a closer look at the kit used by our RNLI, it's all taking place this week in Weymouth.

It's Lifeboat Week, a fundraising drive by local volunteers to raise vital funds for the sea rescue service.

The RNLI doesn't receive any government funding and relies entirely on generous donations from the public.

On Thursday 24th May from 6pm Weymouth Sailing Club opens its doors for a Bar and Barbecue featuring live music from North and South.

On Friday 25th May there will be a full cliff rescue display with the Lifeboat and Coastguard Helicopter at Bowleaze Cove starting at 7pm. There will also be a sea safety display and a lifeboat shop there.

On Saturday 26trh May the Weymouth all weather and inshore Lifeboats open to the public at the Lifeboat Station, there will also be a sea safety display.

And on Sunday 27th May at 7.30pm the Lifeboat Service opens its doors to its station, and everyone is welcome.
