The Head of Seafront Operations in Weymouth and Portland has come to the defence of the controversial laser lights project.

The seven colour columns were switched on for the first time on Thursday - but many people complained they couldn't see the colourful displays.

Simon Williams from the Borough Council says you can get a great view of the lasers from the beach and the Merlin Tower.

The official launch was marred by a malfunctioning PA system too.
