Weymouth Rowing Club Is Part of Jubilee Flotilla Today

Weymouth rowing club will be taking part in the largest flotilla in modern times today.

Thousands of boats will gather on the River Thames to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Weymouth Rowing Clubs' very own Sir Tristan will be crewed by a team of seven young women aged 16 and 17.

The vessels of all shapes and sizes will be dressed with streamers and union jacks and its estimated the flotilla with stretch twelve and a half miles.

Meanwhile Dorset County Museum have added a new display to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

There are programmes and souvenirs commemorating the Coronation in 1953 and memorabilia from other Royal celebrations, including Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

The artefacts have come from the museums own collection as well as residents from Dorchester.
