Portland's leading leisure centre has been given a cash boost to improve its facilities.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council will contribute 82 thousand pounds towards renovations at the Osprey Centre over the next 5 years.

The money will be used to improve disabled access and as well as general building maintenance.

It's all part of a major project to upgrade the sports centre.

Cllr Andy Blackwood, Brief Holder for Community Facilities at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: "It is excellent news the borough council has been able to offer this funding to the leisure centre trust.

"It is an important facility for the residents of Portland and beyond, offering crucial recreational activities."
