There'll be some big name speakers appearing at this year's Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival.

Newsnight Economic Editor Paul Mason, author Louise Raw, columnist and writer Owen Jones will all be holding sessions at the two day event in July.

They'll also be an appearance from former General Secretary of the TUC Lord John Monks.

In 1834 six farm workers from Dorset were arrested for fighting against starvation wages and forming a union. Since 1934 a rally has celebrated their sacrifice and the campaign that freed them and over the last few years a History School has taken place to explore not only the background to the Tolpuddle Martyrs story, but also to look at social and working history in general.

The event takes place in the rural village of Tolpuddle in Dorset and runs from 1 p.m. on July 12th  finishes at 12 noon on July 14th, just as the Tolpuddle Martyrs' Festival gets into full swing. Tickets are £25. You can apply on line at
