Sandsfoot Castle Reopens Today
9:03am 1st July 2012
A nine-year-old schoolboy will be officially re-opening a Tudor castle in Weymouth today.
Beechcroft Primary School pupil Thomas Myers will cut the ribbon at Sandsfoot Castle at 11am, after renovation works to the ancient building.
He was one of 200 children who took part in a painting competition to win the honour.
Thomas will also be kick-starting the Tudor Fayre, which shows off life in Henry VIII's time for all the family to enjoy with activities such as Morris and Tudor Dancing, Aunt Sally and Splat-the-Rat.
Refreshments will be available from Sandsfoot Cafe or you can bring along a picnic.
This event is part of Weymouth and Portland's 'Spirit of the Sea' Maritime Festival, which runs from 30 June-15 July.
