New Support Centre for South Dorset Rape Victims
9:37am 3rd July 2012
Victims of rape and sexual assault in South Dorset now have a place to turn to for help.
The new support centre called ARC Dorset has opened its doors to help people affected.
Anyone, man, woman or child who has been involved in a serious sexual assault either recently or in the past can go to there for help.
People can refer themselves and make an appointment via phone or email.
Project leaders are trying to make it easier and more comfortable for victims to come forward in confidence.
And those who do so, have the choice of allowing Police to investigate their claims, or they can receive treatment at Arc without Police enquires.
Specialist teams can provide anything from medical examinations and counselling to just a friendly chat and a cup of tea.
Detective Superintendent Sara Glen says it's important people don't suffer in silence and encourages anyone affected to contact Arc. You can listen to more from Detective Glen by clicking the player below.
